Residential Refuse/Recycling
Solid Waste (Refuse) & Recycling
The Village contracts with Republic Services for refuse and recycling service. Collection is on Tuesdays for both refuse and recycling. Holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s) will result in the collection being pushed back one day. Holidays on a Monday such as Columbus Day or Veteran’s Day WILL NOT DELAY COLLECTION.
Both refuse and recycling carts should be placed to the curb prior to 7 am on the day of collection. Refuse containers are collected first with the crews returning for recycling collection later in the day.
Carts are owned by the Village and should be left at the residence whenever an occupant moves.
Rules and regulations regarding the placement of carts for collection and cart storage areas are in force and include not placing carts to curb before 6 pm Monday and removing from the curb by 6 pm Tuesday.
Carts may not be stored at any location between the street and house, garage or offsets that face the street including both frontages of a corner lot.
Excess Refuse and Bulk Items
For excess refuse bags that will not fit into your cart, excess stickers may be purchased at the Village offices for $1 per bag. Excess bags may be placed out for collection next to the refuse cart.
Larger items (couches, chairs, end tables, etc) may be placed to the curb for collection on Tuesdays if accompanied by a bulk item sticker. The bulk item stickers are $10 for each item and can be purchased at the Village offices.
The Village accepts cash up to $10, any amount over $10 must be paid with a check or money order.
Please see the Mayor’s Rules and Regulations Refuse, Recycling and Yard Waste for further information regarding these services.
