The walking trail was constructed with the assistance of a Nature Works grant and is 6/10 of mile in length. Under the same grant, the basketball/tennis court was renovated and two open air shelters were constructed. New picnic tables and grills have recently been added to the park.
The ball diamond is available to schedule for team practices and games during the baseball season, the basketball/tennis court is first come first serve.
The park originally comprised of 19 acres, with the Village gifting the Toledo-Lucas County Library land for the Holland branch of the library, bringing the current acreage of the park to just under 12 acres. The Strawberry Festival Organization provided the park to the Village for the enjoyment of area residents. In the summer of 1938, the first Strawberry Festival was held. The Strawberry Festival has outgrown this location and is currently held at Community Homecoming Park on Angola Road.
Oak Wilt Disease - Approximately 35 trees in the park were infected with oak wilt disease. The infected trees were removed and additional measures such as trenching were taken to halt the spread of the disease. Emerald Ash Borer - A survey of the ash trees in the Village on both public and private property indicate that our area has shown that the ash borer has established itself. Infected trees in the park and right of way areas will be taken down and replaced. A total of 81 trees on public property are affected. The replacement of these trees will be an ongoing project.
